Articling at Ratcliff & Company LLP
Given the diverse nature of the firm's practice, articling students can expect a varied and rewarding articling experience.
To ensure the student gains experience in all practice areas within the firm, we encourage a participatory and consultative process between the articling student and their principal. If a student is interested in a particular area of law, he or she can request more of that work and we will do our best to accommodate that request.
During articles, a student can expect to conduct trials in Provincial Court and do Chambers work in British Columbia Supreme Court.
Ratcliff usually employs two articling students each year. Interested students are encouraged to apply upon completion of their 2nd year of law school.
Candidates should demonstrate:
- a genuine interest in the law practiced by this firm,
- a solid academic record,
- excellent written and oral communication skills,
- diverse work and personal experience in a variety of settings with people of different backgrounds, and
- a commitment to the principles and philosophy of Ratcliff & Company.
When applying, include a letter of application, resume and your academic transcript.
Applications should be sent by mail to the Articling Committee, which is comprised of two Associates and the Managing Partner.
The application deadline for articling is June 30th of the year before the articling period starts (June 30, 2008 for the 2009-2010 articling period)
